How Can We Help?
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about our pharmacy services, prescriptions, insurance, and more.
Do I need a prescription to buy medication?
Prescription medications require a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider. Over-the-counter (OTC) products, vitamins, and supplements can be purchased without a prescription. If you need help determining whether a medication requires a prescription, our pharmacists are happy to assist.
How do I transfer my prescription to Farmacia Cárdenas?
Transferring your prescription is easy. Simply visit us with your current prescription information or call us at (305) 887-6189. We'll handle the transfer process with your previous pharmacy. Most transfers are completed within a few hours, and we'll notify you when your medication is ready for pickup.
Can I get a refill on my prescription?
Yes! You can request a refill by calling us, visiting the store, or sending us a message on WhatsApp. We recommend requesting refills at least 2–3 days before you run out of medication. If your prescription has run out of refills, we'll contact your doctor to obtain a new authorization.
How long does it take to fill a prescription?
Most prescriptions are ready within 15–30 minutes. Compounded medications or prior authorization requests may take longer. If you're in a hurry, give us a call ahead of time and we'll do our best to have your medication ready when you arrive.
What is a generic medication and is it as effective?
Generic medications contain the same active ingredients, dosage, and strength as their brand-name counterparts. They are FDA-approved and meet the same quality standards. The main difference is the price — generics are typically 30–80% less expensive. Our pharmacists can help you determine if a generic option is available for your prescription.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most major health insurance plans including Medicare Part D, Medicaid, and many private insurance providers. We recommend bringing your insurance card and a valid ID when you visit. Our staff will verify your coverage and explain any out-of-pocket costs before processing your prescription.
What if my insurance doesn't cover my medication?
If your medication isn't covered by your insurance, we have several options. We can check for therapeutically equivalent alternatives that are covered, help you apply for manufacturer discount programs, or provide competitive cash prices. Our goal is to help you find the most affordable option for your health needs.
Do you offer discount programs for uninsured patients?
Yes, we offer competitive cash prices and can help you access manufacturer savings cards and patient assistance programs. Many pharmaceutical companies offer discount cards that can reduce your costs significantly. Ask our pharmacist about available options during your next visit.
Do you offer home delivery service?
Yes, we offer home delivery within our service area. Contact us by phone or WhatsApp to arrange delivery of your prescriptions and over-the-counter products. Delivery fees may apply, and some restrictions may vary. We'll provide an estimated delivery time when you place your order.
Can I get my flu shot or other vaccines at the pharmacy?
Yes, our pharmacists can administer flu shots, COVID-19 vaccines, and other immunizations as recommended by the CDC. No appointment is necessary — just walk in during business hours. We accept most insurance plans for vaccine administration. Contact us to learn which vaccines are currently available.
Do you offer medication synchronization (med sync)?
Medication synchronization, or "med sync," aligns all your prescriptions to be filled on the same day each month. This means one trip to the pharmacy instead of multiple visits. Ask our pharmacist about enrolling in our med sync program — it's free and makes managing your medications much simpler.
Can I buy medications online and pick them up in store?
Yes, you can place your order online and pick it up at our store. Once your order is ready, we'll send you a notification via WhatsApp or phone call. Most orders are ready within 2 hours. This service saves you time and ensures your medications are waiting for you.
What are your hours of operation?
We are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We are closed on Sundays. Holiday hours may vary — please call us or check our social media for updated hours during holidays.
